I will always remember the time I lost my independence. On 6th June 2016 I suffered from a major stroke. Suddenly my life changed dramatically, i lost my speech and the ability down my right hand side.
Road to recovery
While some people experience some immediate signs of recovery, it can be slow progress. The road to rehabilitation can involve learning how to adapt, adjust and overcome the effects of a stroke.
The realisation that I could no longer walk as far as I used to, cook for myself or do anything within my own home was difficult to adapt to. My overwhelming tiredness was too much. I had always been independent and would love just hopping on to my bike to visit friends and family. With this loss of independence came depression.
Ogden electric bike changed my life
Together with my husband Dave we started looking for a solution to overcome my obstacles. We came to visit Sarah and Arek at Ogden Bikes 10 months after my stroke. Dave convinced me to try Ogden Origin however i was unsure of how it may help. The Ogden team offered me a 24 hours test ride but i was convinced I will be back after 15 minutes. I couldn't believe it how far i cycled that day. My husband Dave took me for a beautiful ride on the Bridgewater canal and we cycled for 10 miles before arriving home. I can honestly say that for the first time for 10 months I felt independent again.
Now i ride 10 to 20 miles a week. The assistance from the Ogden helps me to join my husband on bike rides. We also recently bought a campervan and the Ogden Origin goes with us. I can explore, see more and experience my freedom back. Just need to keep my husband off it.
